Five years ago, The Greater Houston Women's Chamber of Commerce inducted 10 exceptional women into our Hall of Fame. Since that date, 42 additional outstanding women have joined the Greater Houston Women's Hall of Fame.
On December 5th, 2013, The Greater Houston Women's Chamber will proudly induct Sue Burnett, Nancy Chang, Shara Fryer, Dr. Ellen Gritz, Dr. Mae Jemison, Kathy Lehne, Carol Linn, Janiece Longoria, Beth Madison, Bobbie Nau, Mayor Annise Parker, Debra Stewart, and Betty Tutor into the 2013 Hall of Fame at our annual Hall of Fame Gala. We, along with our Honorary Chairs Dr. Kelli Cohen Fein and Winell Herron, hope you will take part in this extraordinary evening!
The Gala proceeds benefit the Chamber's program of work in our community which includes:
► Providing scholarships for deserving young women graduating from Aldine, Houston, Spring, and Spring Branch School Districts to attend a Texas college of their choice, and;
► The Chamber's Smart Start Program for Women Entrepreneurs, a program to help entrepreneurs strengthen their businesses, stabilize and increase their incomes, create additional employment and contribute to the economic development of the Greater Houston area, and;
► STEM Town USA, an initiative to increase exposure of third grade girl's interest in math and
science through STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) concepts, improve grades
and graduation rates, and encourage girls to pursue STEM careers.
The Greater Houston Women's Chamber of Commerce is a non-profit business organization of influential and diverse women and men dedicated to the advancement and empowerment of women through avenues of leadership, education, advocacy, and mentoring.
